The CData ODBC Driver for AAS can be used from any platform or development technology that supports ODBC, including Sybase PowerBuilder. This article shows how to connect to Azure Analysis Services data and execute queries from the Database Painter and controls such as the DataWindow.
Follow the steps below to use the Database Painter tool to create a database profile based on an ODBC DSN (data source name) for AAS. In the Database Painter, you can use wizards and the UI to work with Azure Analysis Services data.
To connect to Azure Analysis Services, set the Url property to a valid server, for instance, asazure://southcentralus.asazure.windows.net/server, in addition to authenticating. Optionally, set Database to distinguish which Azure database on the server to connect to.
Azure Analysis Services uses the OAuth authentication standard. OAuth requires the authenticating user to interact with Azure Analysis Services using the browser. You can connect without setting any connection properties for your user credentials. See the Help documentation for more information.
See the help documentation for a guide to creating a Azure Analysis Services DSN.You can use standard PowerBuilder objects to connect to ODBC data sources and execute queries. The following example shows how to retrieve Azure Analysis Services data into a DataWindow. You can add the following code to the open method:
SQLCA.DBMS = "ODBC"
SQLCA.DBParm = "ConnectString='DSN=CData Azure Analysis Services Source'"
CONNECT USING SQLCA;
dw_customer.SetTransObject(SQLCA);
dw_customer.Retrieve();
