Troubleshooting Column Size Restrictions in Microsoft Query

Microsoft Query limits the total size of all columns selected. When all columns are selected, this may result in an error. The solution is to set the Maximum Column Size property.

In Microsoft Query in Excel, you may not be able to load the entire table or you may receive an "Out of memory error" if you have more than 85 columns. If you have more columns than this, the total column size cannot exceed 22k in Microsoft Query.

One solution is to set the Maximum Column Size property in the connection string. The default value is 16000. The driver will not report columns that have a size larger than this limit.
