The Amazon S3 ODBC Driver is a powerful tool that allows you to connect with live Amazon S3 cloud storage, directly from any applications that support ODBC connectivity.

Access Amazon S3 like you would a database - access Objects, Buckets, etc. through a standard ODBC Driver interface.

Connect to Amazon S3 Data in DBArtisan

Use wizards in DBArtisan to configure Amazon S3 data as a data source.

The CData ODBC Driver for Amazon S3 seamlessly integrates Amazon S3 data into database management tools like DBArtisan by enabling you to access Amazon S3 data as a database. This article shows how to create an data source for Amazon S3 in DBArtisan and execute queries. You can then edit data visually and execute standard SQL.

Integrate Amazon S3 Data into DBArtisan Projects

If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.

To authorize Amazon S3 requests, provide the credentials for an administrator account or for an IAM user with custom permissions. Set AccessKey to the access key Id. Set SecretKey to the secret access key.

Note: You can connect as the AWS account administrator, but it is recommended to use IAM user credentials to access AWS services.

For information on obtaining the credentials and other authentication methods, refer to the Getting Started section of the Help documentation.

You can then follow the steps below to register Amazon S3 data as a database instance in your project:

  1. In DBArtisan, click Data Source -> Register Datasource.
  2. Select Generic ODBC.
  3. Enter a name for the data source and select the DSN.
  4. Finish the wizard to connect to Amazon S3 data. Amazon S3 entities are displayed in the Datasource Explorer.

You can now work with Amazon S3 data as you work with any other database. See the driver help documentation for more information on the queries supported by the Amazon S3 API.
