QuickBooks Remote Connector Certificate Revoked

Update QuickBooks Remote Connector to maintain remote access to QuickBooks Desktop

Date Entered: 2/12/2016    Last Updated: 2/12/2016

The Remote Connector application that ships with our CData QuickBooks Drivers is affected by a recent change made to its digital certificate. This update affects all customers using the CData QuickBooks Drivers to access QuickBooks Desktop. QuickBooks Online customers are unaffected by this change.

Why Has the Remote Connector Certificate Been Revoked?

Windows Enforcement of Authenticode Code Signing on Windows (version 7 and higher) and Windows Server requires SHA-256 certificates starting January 1st, 2016. To comply with this policy the CData Software code signing certificate was upgraded from SHA-1 to SHA-256. As part of this upgrade the old SHA-1 certificate used for the Remote Connector application was revoked.

How Does This Affect Me, and What Should I Do About It?

If you are using the CData Software Remote Connector application, QuickBooks may not allow the Remote Connector to communicate with it.

To overcome the revoked certificate error, you will need to use the latest version of the Remote Connector application, which has the updated SHA-256 certificate.
