Use the CData Cloud Hub to create a virtual MySQL Database for Epicor ERP data and build visualizations in Tableau Online.

Tableau Online is an analytics platform fully hosted in the cloud. When paired with the CData Cloud Hub, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to Epicor ERP data for visualizations, dashboards, and more. This article shows how to use a MySQL client to create a virtual database for Epicor ERP and build visualizations from Epicor ERP data in Tableau Online.

The CData Cloud Hub provides a pure MySQL, cloud-to-cloud interface for Epicor ERP, allowing you to easily build visualizations from live Epicor ERP data in Tableau Online without installing connectors or publishing worksheets and data sources from Tableau Desktop. As you build visualizations, Tableau Online generates SQL queries to gather data. Using optimized data processing out of the box, the CData Cloud Hub pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc) directly to Epicor ERP, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return Epicor ERP data.

Create a Virtual MySQL Database for Epicor ERP Data

You can use any MySQL client to connect to the CData Cloud Hub and create virtual databases.

  1. Connect to the CData Cloud Hub:
    mysql --host myinstance.cdatacloud.net --user admin --password

  2. Once authenticated, create the virtual database for Epicor ERP:
    mysql> CREATE DATABASE epicorerp_db
        -> DRIVER = "EpicorERP",
        -> DBURL = "ervice=Erp.BO.CustomerSvc;ERPInstance=MyInstance;URL=https://myaccount.epicorsaas.com;User=username;Password=password;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH";
