Connect to HPCC Systems Data in DBArtisan

Use wizards in DBArtisan to configure HPCC Systems data as a data source.

The CData ODBC Driver for HPCC Systems seamlessly integrates HPCC Systems data into database management tools like DBArtisan by enabling you to access HPCC Systems data as a database. This article shows how to create an data source for HPCC Systems in DBArtisan and execute queries. You can then edit data visually and execute standard SQL.

Integrate HPCC Systems Data into DBArtisan Projects

If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.

To connect, set the following connection properties: Set URL to the machine name or IP address of the server and the port the server is running on, for example, https://server:port. The User and Password are required to authenticate to the HPCC Systems cluster specified in the URL. Note that LDAP authentication is not currently supported by our ODBC driver.

Set Version to the WsSQL Web server version. Note that if you have not already done so, you will need to install the WsSQL service on the HPCC Systems server. The WsSQL Web service is used to interact with the underlying HPCC Systems platform.

Set Cluster to the target cluster.

You can then follow the steps below to register HPCC Systems data as a database instance in your project:

  1. In DBArtisan, click Data Source -> Register Datasource.
  2. Select Generic ODBC.
  3. Enter a name for the data source and select the DSN.
  4. Finish the wizard to connect to HPCC Systems data. HPCC Systems entities are displayed in the Datasource Explorer.

You can now work with HPCC Systems data as you work with any other database. See the driver help documentation for more information on the queries supported by the HPCC Systems API.
