Easily back up Salesforce Data Cloud data to SQL Server using the SSIS components for Salesforce Data Cloud.
Using SQL Server as a backup for critical business data provides an essential safety net against loss. Backing up data to SQL Server enables business users to more easily connect that data with features like reporting, analytics, and more.
This example demonstrates how to use the CData SSIS Tasks for Salesforce Data Cloud inside of a SQL Server SSIS workflow to transfer Salesforce Data Cloud data into a Microsoft SQL Server database.
Add the Components
To get started, add a new Salesforce Data Cloud source and SQL Server ADO.NET destination to a new data flow task.

Create a New Connection Manager
Follow the steps below to save Salesforce Data Cloud connection properties in a connection manager.
- In the Connection Manager window, right-click and then click New Connection. The Add SSIS Connection Manager dialog is displayed.
- In the Connection Manager type menu, select SalesforceDataCloud. The CData Salesforce Data Cloud Connection Manager is displayed.
- Configure connection properties.
Salesforce Data Cloud supports authentication via the OAuth standard.
OAuth
Set AuthScheme to OAuth.
Desktop Applications
CData provides an embedded OAuth application that simplifies authentication at the desktop.
You can also authenticate from the desktop via a custom OAuth application, which you configure and register at the Salesforce Data Cloud console. For further information, see Creating a Custom OAuth App in the Help documentation.
Before you connect, set these properties:
- InitiateOAuth: GETANDREFRESH. You can use InitiateOAuth to avoid repeating the OAuth exchange and manually setting the OAuthAccessToken.
- OAuthClientId (custom applications only): The Client ID assigned when you registered your custom OAuth application.
- OAuthClientSecret (custom applications only): The Client Secret assigned when you registered your custom OAuth application.
When you connect, the driver opens Salesforce Data Cloud's OAuth endpoint in your default browser. Log in and grant permissions to the application.
The driver then completes the OAuth process as follows:
- Extracts the access token from the callback URL.
- Obtains a new access token when the old one expires.
- Saves OAuth values in OAuthSettingsLocation so that they persist across connections.

Configure the Salesforce Data Cloud Source
Follow the steps below to specify the query to be used to extract Salesforce Data Cloud data.
- Double-click the Salesforce Data Cloud source to open the source component editor.
- In the Connection Manager menu, select the connection manager previously created.
- Specify the query to use for the data extraction. For example:
SELECT [Account ID], [Account Name] FROM Account WHERE EmployeeCount > 250
- Close the Salesforce Data Cloud Source control and connect it to the ADO.NET Destination.
Configure the SQL Server Destination
Follow the steps below to specify the SQL server table to load the Salesforce Data Cloud data into.
- Open the ADO.NET Destination and add a New Connection. Enter your server and database information here.
- In the Data access mode menu, select "table or view".
- In the Table Or View menu, select the table or view to populate.
- Configure any properties you wish to on the Mappings screen.
Run the Project
You can now run the project. After the SSIS Task has finished executing, your database will be populated with Salesforce Data Cloud data.
