Connect to YouTube Analytics Data in DBArtisan

Use wizards in DBArtisan to configure YouTube Analytics data as a data source.

The CData ODBC Driver for YouTube Analytics seamlessly integrates YouTube Analytics data into database management tools like DBArtisan by enabling you to access YouTube Analytics data as a database. This article shows how to create an data source for YouTube Analytics in DBArtisan and execute queries. You can then edit data visually and execute standard SQL.

Integrate YouTube Analytics Data into DBArtisan Projects

If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.

YouTube Analytics uses the OAuth authentication standard. You can use the embedded CData OAuth credentials or you can register an application with Google to obtain your own.

In addition to the OAuth values, to access YouTube Analytics data set ChannelId to the Id of a YouTube channel. You can obtain the channel Id in the advanced account settings for your channel. If not specified, the channel of the currently authenticated user will be used.

If you want to generate content owner reports, specify the ContentOwnerId property. This is the Id of the copyright holder for content in YouTube's rights management system. The content owner is the person or organization that claims videos and sets their monetization policy.

You can then follow the steps below to register YouTube Analytics data as a database instance in your project:

  1. In DBArtisan, click Data Source -> Register Datasource.
  2. Select Generic ODBC.
  3. Enter a name for the data source and select the DSN.
  4. Finish the wizard to connect to YouTube Analytics data. YouTube Analytics entities are displayed in the Datasource Explorer.

You can now work with YouTube Analytics data as you work with any other database. See the driver help documentation for more information on the queries supported by the YouTube Analytics API.
