How to Connect DBeaver to Anaplan via a JDBC Driver
The CData JDBC Driver for Anaplan implements JDBC standards that enable third-party tools to interoperate, from wizards in IDEs to business intelligence tools. This article shows how to connect to Anaplan data with wizards in DBeaver and browse data in the DBeaver GUI.
Create a JDBC Data Source for Anaplan Data
Follow the steps below to load the driver JAR in DBeaver.
- Open the DBeaver application and, in the "Database" menu, select the "Driver Manager" option. Click "New" to open the "Create new driver" form.
- In the Settings tab:
- Set Driver Name to a user-friendly name for the driver (e.g. CData JDBC Driver for Anaplan).
- Set Class Name to the class name for the JDBC driver: cdata.jdbc.anaplan.AnaplanDriver.
- Set URL Template to jdbc:anaplan:.
- In the Libraries tab, click "Add File," navigate to the "lib" folder in the installation directory (C:\Program Files\CData[product_name] XXXX\) and select the JAR file (cdata.jdbc.Anaplan.jar).
Create a Connection to Anaplan Data
Follow the steps below to add credentials and other required connection properties.
- In the "Database" menu, click "New Database Connection."
- In the "Connect to a database" wizard that results, select the driver you just created (e.g. CData JDBC Driver for Anaplan) and click "Next >."
- On the Main tab of the configuration wizard, set the JDBC URL, using the required connection properties:
Authenticating to Anaplan
The driver supports authenticating with Basic, Certificate, or OAuth. In every case, set Region to the region where your Anaplan account data is hosted (e.g., US1, which is the default).
Using Basic Authentication
Set AuthScheme to Basic, then supply your Anaplan User and Password. If your workspace uses single sign-on (SSO), you must be assigned as an Exception User to use Basic authentication.
Using Certificate Authentication
Set AuthScheme to Certificate, then supply the Certificate, CertificateType, and PrivateKey properties (and the matching CertificatePassword / PrivateKeyPassword if either is encrypted). The certificate must be a CA-issued X.509 certificate registered with your Anaplan tenant administrator.
Using OAuth Authentication
Register a custom OAuth application in Anaplan, then set the following properties:
- OAuthClientId: The client Id assigned when you registered your custom OAuth application.
- OAuthClientSecret: The client secret assigned when you registered your custom OAuth application.
- CallbackURL: The redirect URI defined when you registered your application.
- InitiateOAuth: Set to GETANDREFRESH to have the driver manage the OAuth token exchange and refresh automatically.

Built-in Connection String Designer
For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the Anaplan JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.

Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.
Below is a typical connection string:
jdbc:anaplan:OAuthClientId=your_client_id;OAuthClientSecret=your_client_secret;CallbackURL=your_callback_url;Region=US1;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;
- Click "Test Connection ..." to ensure you have configured the connection properly.
- Click "Finish."
Query Anaplan Data
You can now query information from the tables exposed by the connection: Right-click a Table and then click View Table. The data is available on the Data tab.
