Common questions about ADO.NET Subscriptions
How are the ADO.NET Subscriptions licensed?
Subscriptions are licenses per-developer. A license must be purchased for every developer that uses the Drivers or Data Providers included within the subscription.
There are multiple products in the subscription. Can I give some of them to another end user?
Everyone who uses products within a subscription must have a subscription license. Contents cannot be shared with non-subscribers.
Do I have to renew my subscription service to keep working with the software license?
Applications that have been distributed during the subscription term will continue to be licensed indefinitely. The right to distribute future application will end with the expiration of the subscription. If you need access to the latest release, or need technical support services, you should consider renewing your subscription.
Are there any distribution limitations with my subscription?
You may distribute compiled desktop, or mobile applications with any of the included Drivers / Providers within your organization, subject to some limitations:
- Subscription licenses explicitly exclude distribution with applications distributed-to or used commercially by third-parties.
- In addition, Subscription licenses excludes the use of the Drivers from third-party applications that were not built by your organization or server applications. For example a ADO.NET Server License would be required for use with SQL Server Analysis Services.

Can you add new seats to a subscription contract?
Absolutely. New licenses or additional seats may be added at any time.
What technical support options are available?
Each of our licenses includes the first year of subscription service. The subscription includes unlimited Email-based technical support, access to our knowledgebase, online documentation, and access to all minor and major releases for a period of 12 months.
