Integrate NetSuite with JetBrains RubyMine using CData JDBC Drivers
CData JDBC Driver for NetSuite offer standardized JDBC connectivity to 200+ data sources, allowing developers to treat SaaS and cloud APIs as relational databases. By integrating these drivers into JetBrains RubyMine, user can connect IDE directly to external systems like CRM or ERP platforms, enabling SQL based data access and real-time querying.
RubyMine is a advanced IDE for Ruby and Rails development that offers advanced coding assistance, debugging, and database tools. Through CData JDBC integration, developers can link RubyMine with NetSuite for easy access to live NetSuite data.
Overview
Here is a quick overview of the integration process:
- Set Up Environment: Configure the Ruby interpreter in RubyMine
- Install JDBC Driver: Add the CData JDBC Driver for NetSuite to RubyMine's database configuration
- Connect: Establish a live connection to NetSuite and begin querying NetSuite data
About NetSuite Data Integration
CData provides the easiest way to access and integrate live data from Oracle NetSuite. Customers use CData connectivity to:
- Access all editions of NetSuite, including Standard, CRM, and OneWorld.
- Connect with all versions of the SuiteTalk API (SOAP-based) and SuiteQL, which functions like SQL, enabling easier data querying and manipulation.
- Access predefined and custom reports through support for Saved Searches.
- Securely authenticate with Token-based and OAuth 2.0, ensuring compatibility and security for all use cases.
- Use SQL stored procedures to perform functional actions like uploading or downloading files, attaching or detaching records or relationships, retrieving roles, getting extra table or column info, getting job results, and more.
Customers use CData solutions to access live NetSuite data from their preferred analytics tools, Power BI and Excel. They also use CData's solutions to integrate their NetSuite data into comprehensive databases and data warehouse using CData Sync directly or leveraging CData's compatibility with other applications like Azure Data Factory. CData also helps Oracle NetSuite customers easily write apps that can pull data from and push data to NetSuite, allowing organizations to integrate data from other sources with NetSuite.

Getting Started
Configure the Ruby Interpreter in RubyMine
After installing the Ruby interpreter, open RubyMine and configure the environment.
- Create a New Empty Project
- Select the interpreter for example, C:\Ruby34-x64\bin uby.exe
- Click Create to initialize the project
Add the CData JDBC Driver for NetSuite
Next, configure the CData JDBC Driver for NetSuite within RubyMine.
- Go to View, select Tool Windows and click Database to open the database panel
- Click the "+" icon and choose Driver from the dropdown
- In the Data Sources and Drivers window:
- Provide a Name for the driver (e.g., CData NetSuite JDBC)
- Click "+" in the Driver Files section and select Custom JARs
- Locate and open the cdata.jdbc.netsuite.jar file
- Set the Class to cdata.jdbc.netsuite.NetSuiteDriver
Create the NetSuite data source
- Click Create Data Source and choose the newly created driver
- In the connection window, confirm that the selected driver is correct
- Enter your connection details:
- Name: NetSuite Connection
- URL: jdbc:netsuite:User=username;Password=password;
- Username and Password: User NetSuite credentials
- Click Test Connection. If successful, click OK to save
Query live NetSuite data
Once the connection is established, you can query live NetSuite data directly within RubyMine.
- Open the Database Console
- Run SQL queries, for example:
SELECT * FROM NetSuite data_Table LIMIT 10;
Developers can now easily access and manipulate NetSuite data using SQL inside RubyMine bridging code development and live data access in one unified environment.
