How to Query Zoho Recruit Data in MySQL Workbench
You can use the SQL Gateway from the ODBC Driver for Zoho Recruit to query Zoho Recruit data through a MySQL interface. Follow the procedure below to start the MySQL remoting service of the SQL Gateway and work with live Zoho Recruit data in MySQL Workbench.
Connect to Zoho Recruit Data
If you have not already done so, provide values for the required connection properties in the data source name (DSN). You can use the built-in Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to configure the DSN. This is also the last step of the driver installation. See the "Getting Started" chapter in the help documentation for a guide to using the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure a DSN.
To authenticate to ZohoRecruit, and connect to your own data or to allow other users to connect to their data, you can use the OAuth standard.
Using OAuth Authentication
First, you will need to register an OAuth application with ZohoRecruit. To do so, go to the Zoho Developer Console, add a new Client (Server-based application) and set a valid OAuth redirect URL. Your OAuth application will be assigned a client id and a client secret. Additionally, you will need to set the relevant Domain (.com, .eu, .in, .com.cn, or .jp), which defaults to .com.
After setting the following connection properties, you are ready to connect:
- AuthScheme: Set this to OAuth.
- InitiateOAuth: Set this to GETANDREFRESH. You can use InitiateOAuth to manage the process to obtain the OAuthAccessToken.
- OAuthClientId: Set this to the client_id that is specified in your app settings.
- OAuthClientSecret: Set this to the client_secret that is specified in your app settings.
- CallbackURL: Set this to the Redirect URI that is specified in your app settings.
- Domain: Set this in ProfileSettings to your ZohoRecruit account domain (e.g. .com, .eu, .in, .com.cn, .jp).
Example connection string:
Profile=C:\profiles\ZohoRecruit.apip;ProfileSettings='Domain=.com';AuthScheme=OAuth;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;OAuthClientId=your_client_id;OAuthClientSecret=your_client_secret;CallbackUrl=your_callback_url;
Configure the SQL Gateway
See the SQL Gateway Overview to set up connectivity to Zoho Recruit data as a virtual MySQL database. You will configure a MySQL remoting service that listens for MySQL requests from clients. The service can be configured in the SQL Gateway UI.

Query Zoho Recruit from MySQL Workbench
The steps below outline connecting to the virtual Zoho Recruit database created in the SQL Gateway from MySQL Workbench and issuing basic queries to work with live Zoho Recruit data.
Connect to Zoho Recruit through the SQL Gateway
- In MySQL Workbench, click to add a new MySQL connection.
- Name the connection (CData SQL Gateway for Zoho Recruit).
- Set the Hostname, Port, and Username parameters to connect to the SQL Gateway.
- Click Store in Vault to set and store the password.
- Click Test Connection to ensure the connection is configured properly and click OK.
NOTE: When we refer to Username and Password, we mean the credentials for the user(s) created for the SQL Gateway.
Query Zoho Recruit Data
- Open the connection you just created (CData SQL Gateway for Zoho Recruit).
- Click File -> New Query Tab.
- Write a SQL query to retrieve Zoho Recruit data, like SELECT * FROM `CData API Sys`.Attachments;
