CData Virtuality Q3 Product Release: Trusted AI, Extended Semantics, Stronger Security

by Sue Raiber | October 9, 2025

CData Virtuality Q3 Product ReleaseThe CData Virtuality team is excited to announce the Q3 Product Release, putting AI front and center. This release covers versions 25.2 and 25.3, which deliver powerful new capabilities that make AI not only possible, but also reliable, governed, and business-ready.

At the core of these innovations is the semantic layer, which both powers and is enhanced by AI features, alongside a strengthened foundation for enterprise-grade security.

This release introduces three major advancements:

  • Talk To Your Data (TTYD) enhancements: Smarter, governed conversations with data — built on and contributing back to the semantic layer.

  • Business Data Shop updates: From discovery to request — empowering business users to streamline data access and fuel AI initiatives.

  • Authentication Management Component: A centralized system for managing identity and access with advanced enterprise controls.

Together, these updates position CData Virtuality as the platform for organizations that want to embrace AI with confidence, combining semantic context, secure governance, and self-service access.

“Talk To Your Data” enhancements: Smarter, trusted conversations with data

Recap: From natural language to governed queries

The Talk To Your Data (TTYD) feature in CData Virtuality has always been powered by the semantic layer, ensuring that interactions with enterprise data are governed, contextualized, and business-aware. User questions in natural language are enriched with business semantics so intent is clearly understood. A sophisticated orchestration layer — combining large language models, a semantic vector database, and the Virtual SQL engine — translates those questions into accurate queries that respect governance rules and return results in the most useful form, whether a chart, a table, or a natural language explanation.

TTYD works with any AI interface: you can bring your own LLM, and it supports both on-premise and self-hosted deployments. This flexibility lets enterprises design an AI environment that fits their needs while remaining reliable and governed.

For organizations, this means:

  • Higher accuracy and reliability in query results.

  • Stronger governance and trust in every interaction.

  • Continuous improvement of the enterprise semantic layer over time.

New in this release: Strengthening the semantic layer

With this release, TTYD doesn’t just consume the semantic layer, it also helps expand it. Business definitions can now be uploaded into Virtuality and used directly as a business glossary. This new capability enables teams to standardize terminology and ensure the semantic layer remains a living foundation that reflects the organization’s evolving knowledge.

From discovery to request: Advancing the Business Data Shop

With the new enhancements in the Business Data Shop, we are delivering further on the semantic layer. Business and other data users can not only discover and access data, but with this release they can now request data directly, making data flow more central, streamlined, and efficient.

This intuitive, self-service interface simplifies the process of finding and requesting datasets, reducing bottlenecks and empowering users to work with trusted, curated data without having to rely on IT.

For organizations, this means:

  • Faster access to data for decision-making.

  • Reduced IT overhead by streamlining the request process.

  • Improved governance with requests tied to Virtuality’s centralized controls.

Authentication Management Component: Centralized security made simple

In this release, we’ve introduced the Authentication Management Component, a unified system that centralizes identity and access management. By bringing authentication into a single place, security teams can manage identities and access more efficiently, while enterprises benefit from stronger security, improved compliance, and a seamless experience for administrators and end users alike. Furthermore, this release significantly enhances identity and security capabilities, giving organizations more control and resilience against evolving threats.

Key features include:

  • Broad IdP support: Integrations with public providers like EntraID, Okta, Auth0, Google, GitHub, Shibboleth, WSO2, and more.

  • Enterprise standards: Full support for SAML, OAuth2, and OIDC-based identity providers.

  • Advanced authentication: Options for One-Time Passwords (OTP) and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

  • User Federation & Role Mapping: Connect multiple directories and manage roles across the enterprise with ease.
