Access Live NetSuite SuiteAnalytics Data in Excel (Desktop) via Connect AI

Use CData Connect AI to gain access to live NetSuite SuiteAnalytics data from your Excel spreadsheets.

Microsoft Excel is a widely used spreadsheet software application, primarily used for tasks related to data management, analysis, and visualization. When combined with CData Connect AI, you gain immediate access to NetSuite SuiteAnalytics data directly within Excel, facilitating data analysis, collaboration, calculations, and more.This article shows how to connect to NetSuite SuiteAnalytics in your Connect AI instance and access live NetSuite SuiteAnalytics data in Excel spreadsheets.

CData Connect AI provides a pure cloud-to-cloud interface for NetSuite SuiteAnalytics, allowing you to easily access live NetSuite SuiteAnalytics data in Excel for the web. Simply use the Connect AI Add-In to query live data (or write your own). Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported query operations (filters, JOINs, etc) directly to NetSuite SuiteAnalytics, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return NetSuite SuiteAnalytics data.

This setup requires a CData Connect AI instance and the CData Connect AI Add-In for Excel. To get started, sign up a free trial of Connect AI and install the free Connect AI Excel Add-In.


Configure NetSuite SuiteAnalytics Connectivity for Excel

Connectivity to NetSuite SuiteAnalytics from Excel is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with NetSuite SuiteAnalytics data from Excel, we start by creating and configuring a NetSuite SuiteAnalytics connection.

  1. Log into Connect AI, click Sources, and then click Add Connection
  2. Adding a Connection

  5. Enter the necessary authentication properties to connect to NetSuite SuiteAnalytics.

    Prerequisites

    Before you can connect to NetSuite SuiteAnalytics, you must set up SuiteAnalytics Connect in your NetSuite account:

    1. Enable the Connect Service feature.

      1. Ensure that your Account Administrator has enabled your Account and Role with the Connect Service feature.

      2. Navigate to Setup > Company > Enable Features.

      3. Click the Analytics tab and check the SuiteAnalytics Connect box.

    2. Add the SuiteAnalytics Connect permission to an existing Role, and note the Role ID for later.

    3. Find the Settings portlet on your home page and click Set Up SuiteAnalytics Connect, then click Your Configuration to view your service host and account ID. These settings map directly to the Server and Account Id properties.

    Add the NetSuite SuiteAnalytics Connection

    1. Open the Sources page of the Connect Cloud dashboard.

    2. Click Add Connection and select NetSuite SuiteAnalytics from the list of connectors.

    3. Enter a Connection Name of your choice.

    Authenticate to NetSuite SuiteAnalytics

    Set the following required properties:

    • Server: The Service Host value you found when setting up SuiteAnalytics Connect.

    • Account Id: The Account ID value you found when setting up SuiteAnalytics Connect.

    • Role Id: The internal ID of the login role you granted the SuiteAnalytics Connect permission.

    Next, choose one of the supported authentication methods:

    Basic authentication

    • User: The username you use to authenticate to your NetSuite account.

    • Password: The password associated with that account.

    Token-based authentication

    • Consumer Key and Consumer Secret: Generated when you create your integration record in NetSuite.

    • Token Key and Token Secret: The access token and secret generated for that integration.

    After you enter your credentials, click Save & Test to validate the connection.

  6. Click Save & Test
  7. Navigate to the Permissions tab in the Add NetSuite SuiteAnalytics Connection page and update the User-based permissions. Updating permissions

With the connection configured, you are ready to connect to NetSuite SuiteAnalytics data from Excel.

Access Live NetSuite SuiteAnalytics Data in Excel

The steps below outline connecting to CData Connect AI from Excel to access live NetSuite SuiteAnalytics data.

  1. Open Excel, create a new sheet (or open an existing one).
  2. Click Insert and click Get Add-ins. (if you have already installed the Add-In, jump to step 4).
  3. Search for CData Connect AI Add-In and install the Add-in. Install the Add-In
  4. Click Data and open the CData Connect AI Add-In.
  5. In the Add-In panel, click Authorize to authenticate with your CData Connect AI instance Authorizing the Add-In
  6. In the CData Connect AI panel in Excel, click Import CData Connect AI panel in Excel
  7. Choose a Connection (e.g. SuiteAnalytics1), Table (e.g. Account), and Columns to import CData Connect AI panel in Excel
  8. Optionally add Filters, Sorting, and a Limit Choosing a Connection, Table, and Columns
  9. Click Execute to import the data Executing the Query
