CData Sync

Replicate Multiple Adobe Analytics Accounts

Replicate multiple Adobe Analytics accounts to one or many databases.

CData Sync for Adobe Analytics is a stand-alone application that provides solutions for a variety of replication scenarios such as replicating sandbox and production instances into your database. Both Sync for Windows and Sync for Java include a command-line interface (CLI) that makes it easy to manage multiple Adobe Analytics connections. In this article we show how to use the CLI to replicate multiple Adobe Analytics accounts.

Configure Adobe Analytics Connections

You can save connection and email notification settings in an XML configuration file. To replicate multiple Adobe Analytics accounts, use multiple configuration files. Below is an example configuration to replicate Adobe Analytics to SQLite:

Windows

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <CDataSync> <DatabaseType>SQLite</DatabaseType> <DatabaseProvider>System.Data.SQLite</DatabaseProvider> <ConnectionString>GlobalCompanyId=myGlobalCompanyId; RSID=myRSID; OAuthClientId=myOauthClientId; OauthClientSecret=myOAuthClientSecret; CallbackURL=myCallbackURL;</ConnectionString> <ReplicateAll>False</ReplicateAll> <NotificationUserName></NotificationUserName> <DatabaseConnectionString>Data Source=C:\my.db</DatabaseConnectionString> <TaskSchedulerStartTime>09:51</TaskSchedulerStartTime> <TaskSchedulerInterval>Never</TaskSchedulerInterval> </CDataSync>

Java

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <CDataSync> <DatabaseType>SQLite</DatabaseType> <DatabaseProvider>org.sqlite.JDBC</DatabaseProvider> <ConnectionString>GlobalCompanyId=myGlobalCompanyId; RSID=myRSID; OAuthClientId=myOauthClientId; OauthClientSecret=myOAuthClientSecret; CallbackURL=myCallbackURL;</ConnectionString> <ReplicateAll>False</ReplicateAll> <NotificationUserName></NotificationUserName> <DatabaseConnectionString>Data Source=C:\my.db</DatabaseConnectionString> </CDataSync>

Adobe Analytics uses the OAuth authentication standard. To authenticate using OAuth, you will need to create an app to obtain the OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL connection properties. See the "Getting Started" section of the help documentation for a guide.

Retrieving GlobalCompanyId

GlobalCompanyId is a required connection property. If you do not know your Global Company ID, you can find it in the request URL for the users/me endpoint on the Swagger UI. After logging into the Swagger UI Url, expand the users endpoint and then click the GET users/me button. Click the Try it out and Execute buttons. Note your Global Company ID shown in the Request URL immediately preceding the users/me endpoint.

Retrieving Report Suite Id

Report Suite ID (RSID) is also a required connection property. In the Adobe Analytics UI, navigate to Admin -> Report Suites and you will get a list of your report suites along with their identifiers next to the name.

After setting the GlobalCompanyId, RSID and OAuth connection properties, you are ready to connect to Adobe Analytics.

Configure Queries for Each Adobe Analytics Instance

Sync enables you to control replication with standard SQL. The REPLICATE statement is a high-level command that caches and maintains a table in your database. You can define any SELECT query supported by the Adobe Analytics API. The statement below caches and incrementally updates a table of Adobe Analytics data:

REPLICATE AdsReport;

You can specify a file containing the replication queries you want to use to update a particular database. Separate replication statements with semicolons. The following options are useful if you are replicating multiple Adobe Analytics accounts into the same database:

You can use a different table prefix in the REPLICATE SELECT statement:

REPLICATE PROD_AdsReport SELECT * FROM AdsReport

Alternatively, you can use a different schema:

REPLICATE PROD.AdsReport SELECT * FROM AdsReport

Run Sync

After you have configured the connection strings and replication queries, you can run Sync with the following command-line options:

Windows

AdobeAnalyticsSync.exe -g MyProductionAdobeAnalyticsConfig.xml -f MyProductionAdobeAnalyticsSync.sql

Java

java -Xbootclasspath/p:c:\sqlitejdbc.jar -jar AdobeAnalyticsSync.jar -g MyProductionAdobeAnalyticsConfig.xml -f MyProductionAdobeAnalyticsSync.sql
