Replicate multiple Certinia accounts to one or many databases.
CData Sync for Certinia is a stand-alone application that provides solutions for a variety of replication scenarios such as replicating sandbox and production instances into your database. Both Sync for Windows and Sync for Java include a command-line interface (CLI) that makes it easy to manage multiple Certinia connections. In this article we show how to use the CLI to replicate multiple Certinia accounts.
Configure Certinia Connections
You can save connection and email notification settings in an XML configuration file. To replicate multiple Certinia accounts, use multiple configuration files. Below is an example configuration to replicate Certinia to SQLite:
Windows
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<CDataSync>
<DatabaseType>SQLite</DatabaseType>
<DatabaseProvider>System.Data.SQLite</DatabaseProvider>
<ConnectionString>User=myUser;Password=myPassword;Security Token=myToken;</ConnectionString>
<ReplicateAll>False</ReplicateAll>
<NotificationUserName></NotificationUserName>
<DatabaseConnectionString>Data Source=C:\my.db</DatabaseConnectionString>
<TaskSchedulerStartTime>09:51</TaskSchedulerStartTime>
<TaskSchedulerInterval>Never</TaskSchedulerInterval>
</CDataSync>
Java
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<CDataSync>
<DatabaseType>SQLite</DatabaseType>
<DatabaseProvider>org.sqlite.JDBC</DatabaseProvider>
<ConnectionString>User=myUser;Password=myPassword;Security Token=myToken;</ConnectionString>
<ReplicateAll>False</ReplicateAll>
<NotificationUserName></NotificationUserName>
<DatabaseConnectionString>Data Source=C:\my.db</DatabaseConnectionString>
</CDataSync>
There are several authentication methods available for connecting to Certinia: login credentials, SSO, and OAuth.
Authenticating with a Login and Token
Set the User and Password to your login credentials. Additionally, set the SecurityToken. By default, the SecurityToken is required, but you can make it optional by allowing a range of trusted IP addresses.
To disable the security token:
- Log in to Certinia and enter "Network Access" in the Quick Find box in the setup section.
- Add your IP address to the list of trusted IP addresses.
To obtain the security token:
- Open the personal information page on certinia.com.
- Click the link to reset your security token. The token will be emailed to you.
- Specify the security token in the SecurityToken connection property or append it to the Password.
Authenticating with OAuth
If you do not have access to the user name and password or do not want to require them, use the OAuth user consent flow. See the OAuth section in the Help for an authentication guide.
Connecting to Certinia Sandbox Accounts
Set UseSandbox to true (false by default) to use a Certinia sandbox account. Ensure that you specify a sandbox user name in User.
Configure Queries for Each Certinia Instance
Sync enables you to control replication with standard SQL. The REPLICATE statement is a high-level command that caches and maintains a table in your database. You can define any SELECT query supported by the Certinia API. The statement below caches and incrementally updates a table of Certinia data:
REPLICATE Account;
You can specify a file containing the replication queries you want to use to update a particular database. Separate replication statements with semicolons. The following options are useful if you are replicating multiple Certinia accounts into the same database:
You can use a different table prefix in the REPLICATE SELECT statement:
REPLICATE PROD_Account SELECT * FROM Account
Alternatively, you can use a different schema:
REPLICATE PROD.Account SELECT * FROM Account
Run Sync
After you have configured the connection strings and replication queries, you can run Sync with the following command-line options:
Windows
CertiniaSync.exe -g MyProductionCertiniaConfig.xml -f MyProductionCertiniaSync.sql
Java
java -Xbootclasspath/p:c:\sqlitejdbc.jar -jar CertiniaSync.jar -g MyProductionCertiniaConfig.xml -f MyProductionCertiniaSync.sql
