How to connect to Monday.com Data from IntelliJ



Integrate connectivity to Monday.com data with wizards in IntelliJ.

The CData JDBC Driver for Monday.com enables you to access Monday.com as a JDBC data source, providing integration with rapid development tools in IDEs. This article shows how to use the data source configuration wizard to connect to Monday.com data in IntelliJ.

Create a JBDC Data Source for Monday.com

Follow the steps below to add the driver JAR and define connection properties required to connect to Monday.com data.

  1. In the Data Sources window, right-click and then click Add Data Source -> DB Data Source.
  2. In the Data Source Properties dialog that appears, the following properties are required:

    • JDBC Driver Files: Click the button next to this menu to add the JDBC Driver file cdata.jdbc.monday.jar, located in the installation directory.
    • JDBC Driver Class: In this menu, select cdata.jdbc.monday.MondayDriver from the list.
    • Database URL: Enter the connection URL in the JDBC URL property. The URL must start with jdbc:monday: and includes connection properties separated with semicolons.

      You can connect to Monday.com using either API Token authentication or OAuth authentication.

      Connecting with an API Token

      Connect to Monday.com by specifying the APIToken. Set the AuthScheme to Token and obtain the APIToken as follows:

      • API tokens for admin users
        1. Log in to your Monday.com account and click on your avatar in the bottom left corner.
        2. Select Admin.
        3. Select "API" on the left side of the Admin page.
        4. Click the "Copy" button to copy the user's API token.
      • API tokens for non-admin users
        1. Click on your profile picture in the bottom left of your screen.
        2. Select "Developers"
        3. Click "Developer" and then "My Access Tokens" at the top.
        4. Select "Show" next to the API token, where you'll be able to copy it.

      Connecting with OAuth Authentication

      Alternatively, you can establish a connection using OAuth (refer to the OAuth section of the Help documentation).

      Built-in Connection String Designer

      For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the Monday.com JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.

      java -jar cdata.jdbc.monday.jar

      Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.

      A typical JDBC URL is the following:

      jdbc:monday:APIToken=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.yJ0aWQiOjE0MTc4NzIxMiwidWlkIjoyNzI3ODM3OSwiaWFkIjoiMjAyMi0wMS0yMFQxMDo0NjoxMy45NDFaIiwicGV;

Edit and Save Monday.com Data

To discover schema information, right-click the data source you just created and click Refresh Tables. To query a table, right-click it and then click Open Tables Editor.
