Get the Report →Connect to Monday.com Data from a Connection Pool in Jetty
The Monday.com JDBC Driver supports connection pooling: This article shows how to connect faster to Monday.com data from Web apps in Jetty.
The CData JDBC driver for Monday.com is easy to integrate with Java Web applications. This article shows how to efficiently connect to Monday.com data in Jetty by configuring the driver for connection pooling. You will configure a JNDI resource for Monday.com in Jetty.
Configure the JDBC Driver for Salesforce as a JNDI Data Source
Follow the steps below to connect to Salesforce from Jetty.
Enable the JNDI module for your Jetty base. The following command enables JNDI from the command-line:
java -jar ../start.jar --add-to-startd=jndi
- Add the CData and license file, located in the lib subfolder of the installation directory, into the lib subfolder of the context path.
-
Declare the resource and its scope. Enter the required connection properties in the resource declaration. This example declares the Monday.com data source at the level of the Web app, in WEB-INF\jetty-env.xml.
<Configure id='mondaydemo' class="org.eclipse.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext"> <New id="mondaydemo" class="org.eclipse.jetty.plus.jndi.Resource"> <Arg><Ref refid="mondaydemo"/></Arg> <Arg>jdbc/mondaydb</Arg> <Arg> <New class="cdata.jdbc.monday.MondayDriver"> <Set name="url">jdbc:monday:</Set> <Set name="APIToken">eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.yJ0aWQiOjE0MTc4NzIxMiwidWlkIjoyNzI3ODM3OSwiaWFkIjoiMjAyMi0wMS0yMFQxMDo0NjoxMy45NDFaIiwicGV</Set> </New> </Arg> </New> </Configure>
You can connect to Monday.com using either API Token authentication or OAuth authentication.
Connecting with an API Token
Connect to Monday.com by specifying the APIToken. Set the AuthScheme to Token and obtain the APIToken as follows:
- API tokens for admin users
- Log in to your Monday.com account and click on your avatar in the bottom left corner.
- Select Admin.
- Select "API" on the left side of the Admin page.
- Click the "Copy" button to copy the user's API token.
- API tokens for non-admin users
- Click on your profile picture in the bottom left of your screen.
- Select "Developers"
- Click "Developer" and then "My Access Tokens" at the top.
- Select "Show" next to the API token, where you'll be able to copy it.
Connecting with OAuth Authentication
Alternatively, you can establish a connection using OAuth (refer to the OAuth section of the Help documentation).
- API tokens for admin users
-
Configure the resource in the Web.xml:
jdbc/mondaydb javax.sql.DataSource Container -
You can then access Monday.com with a lookup to java:comp/env/jdbc/mondaydb:
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(); DataSource mymonday = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/mondaydb");
More Jetty Integration
The steps above show how to configure the driver in a simple connection pooling scenario. For more use cases and information, see the Working with Jetty JNDI chapter in the Jetty documentation.
