Snowflake Enterprise Data Warehouse Icon Snowflake ODBC Driver

The Snowflake ODBC Driver is a powerful tool that allows you to connect with live Snowflake data warehouse, directly from any applications that support ODBC connectivity.

Access Snowflake like you would a database - read, write, and update through a standard ODBC Driver interface.

Connect to Snowflake Data in DBArtisan

Use wizards in DBArtisan to configure Snowflake data as a data source.

The CData ODBC Driver for Snowflake seamlessly integrates Snowflake data into database management tools like DBArtisan by enabling you to access Snowflake data as a database. This article shows how to create an data source for Snowflake in DBArtisan and execute queries. You can then edit data visually and execute standard SQL.

Integrate Snowflake Data into DBArtisan Projects

If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.

To connect to Snowflake:

  1. Set User and Password to your Snowflake credentials and set the AuthScheme property to PASSWORD or OKTA.
  2. Set URL to the URL of the Snowflake instance (i.e.: https://myaccount.snowflakecomputing.com).
  3. Set Warehouse to the Snowflake warehouse.
  4. (Optional) Set Account to your Snowflake account if your URL does not conform to the format above.
  5. (Optional) Set Database and Schema to restrict the tables and views exposed.

See the Getting Started guide in the CData driver documentation for more information.

You can then follow the steps below to register Snowflake data as a database instance in your project:

  1. In DBArtisan, click Data Source -> Register Datasource.
  2. Select Generic ODBC.
  3. Enter a name for the data source and select the DSN.
  4. Finish the wizard to connect to Snowflake data. Snowflake entities are displayed in the Datasource Explorer.

You can now work with Snowflake data as you work with any other database. See the driver help documentation for more information on the queries supported by the Snowflake API.
