EDI 214

An EDI 214 is a type of X12 EDI document called a Transportation Carrier Shipment Status Message. The document is sent by shipment carriers (e.g., FedEx, USPS) to companies that have requested the use of their trucks, planes, and ships to carry goods. The document provides a status update on shipments currently in transit, providing details like the latest stop(s), current location, and estimated delivery windows.

The EDI 214 is sent as part of an ongoing conversation between logistics providers and carriers. Each EDI 214 transmission is triggered by a major event like a package pickup, a truck stop, or a delivery.
