CData Connect

Use CData Connect Cloud to create a virtual MySQL Database for RSS feeds to build custom dashboards in Bold BI.

Bold BI allows you to create, share, and collaborate on interactive BI dashboards. When paired with CData Connect Cloud, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to RSS feeds for visualizations, dashboards, and more. This article shows how to create a virtual database for RSS and build reports from RSS feeds in Bold BI.

CData Connect Cloud provides a pure MySQL, cloud-to-cloud interface for RSS, allowing you to easily build reports from live RSS feeds in Bold BI — without replicating the data to a natively supported database. As you build visualizations, Bold BI generates SQL queries to gather data. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect Cloud pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc) directly to RSS, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return the requested RSS feeds.

Create a Virtual MySQL Database for RSS Feeds

CData Connect Cloud uses a straightforward, point-and-click interface to connect to data sources and generate APIs.

  1. Login to Connect Cloud and click Databases.
  2. Select "RSS" from Available Data Sources.
  3. Enter the necessary authentication properties to connect to RSS.

You can connect to RSS and Atom feeds, as well as feeds with custom extensions. To connect to a feed, set the URL property. You can also access secure feeds. A variety of authentication mechanisms are supported. See the help documentation for details.

  4. Click Test Database.
  5. Click Privileges -> Add and add the new user (or an existing user) with the appropriate permissions.

With the virtual database created, you are ready to connect to RSS feeds from Bold BI.
