Get the Report →Query Adobe Analytics Data in MySQL Workbench
Create a virtual MySQL database for Adobe Analytics data in CData Connect (or Connect Server) and work with live Adobe Analytics data in MySQL Workbench.
MySQL Workbench allows users to administer MySQL environments and gain better visibility into databases. When paired with CData Connect (on-premise or Connect Server), you get live access to Adobe Analytics data as if it were a MySQL database. This article shows how to create a virtual database for Adobe Analytics in Connect and work with live Adobe Analytics data in MySQL Workbench.
Create a Virtual MySQL Database for Adobe Analytics Data
CData Connect uses a straightforward, point-and-click interface to connect to data sources and generate APIs.
- Login to Connect and click Connections.
- Select "Adobe Analytics" from Available Data Sources.
-
Enter the necessary authentication properties to connect to Adobe Analytics.
Adobe Analytics uses the OAuth authentication standard. To authenticate using OAuth, you will need to create an app to obtain the OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL connection properties. See the "Getting Started" section of the help documentation for a guide.
Retrieving GlobalCompanyId
GlobalCompanyId is a required connection property. If you do not know your Global Company ID, you can find it in the request URL for the users/me endpoint on the Swagger UI. After logging into the Swagger UI Url, expand the users endpoint and then click the GET users/me button. Click the Try it out and Execute buttons. Note your Global Company ID shown in the Request URL immediately preceding the users/me endpoint.
Retrieving Report Suite Id
Report Suite ID (RSID) is also a required connection property. In the Adobe Analytics UI, navigate to Admin -> Report Suites and you will get a list of your report suites along with their identifiers next to the name.
After setting the GlobalCompanyId, RSID and OAuth connection properties, you are ready to connect to Adobe Analytics.
- Click Save Changes
- Click Privileges -> Add and add the new user (or an existing user) with the appropriate permissions.
With the virtual database created, you are ready to connect to Adobe Analytics from MySQL Workbench.
Query Adobe Analytics from MySQL Workbench
The steps below outline connecting to the virtual Adobe Analytics database in Connect from MySQL Workbench and issuing basic queries to work with live Adobe Analytics data.
Connect to Adobe Analytics through Connect
- In MySQL Workbench, click to add a new MySQL connection.
- Name the connection (CData Connect).
- Set the Hostname, Port, and Username parameters to connect to the SQL Gateway.
- Click Store in Vault to set and store the password.
- Click Test Connection to ensure the connection is configured properly and click OK.
Query Adobe Analytics Data
- Open the connection you just created (CData Connect).
- Click File -> New Query Tab.
- Write a SQL query to retrieve Adobe Analytics data, like SELECT * FROM adobeanalyticsdb.AdsReport;
With access to live Adobe Analytics data from MySQL Workbench, you can easily query and update Adobe Analytics, just like you would a MySQL database. Request a demo of the CData Connect and start working with Adobe Analytics just like a MySQL database today.
