Get the Report →Connect to Dynamics CRM Data in Aqua Data Studio
Access Dynamics CRM data from tools in Aqua Data Studio such as the Visual Query Builder and the Table Data Editor.
The CData JDBC Driver for Dynamics CRM integrates Dynamics CRM data with wizards and analytics in IDEs like Aqua Data Studio. This article shows how to connect to Dynamics CRM data through the connection manager and execute queries.
Create a JDBC Data Source
You can use the connection manager to define connection properties and save them in a new JDBC data source. The Dynamics CRM data source can then be accessed from Aqua Data Studio tools.
- In Aqua Data Studio, select Register Server from the Servers menu.
- In the Register Server form, select the 'Generic - JDBC' connection.
- Enter the following JDBC connection properties:
- Name: Enter a name for the data source; for example, Dynamics CRM.
- Driver Location: Click the Browse button and select the cdata.jdbc.dynamicscrm.jar file, located in the lib subfolder of the installation directory.
- Driver: Enter the Driver's class name, cdata.jdbc.dynamicscrm.DynamicsCRMDriver.
URL: Enter the JDBC URL, which starts with jdbc:dynamicscrm: and is followed by a semicolon-separated list of connection properties.
The connection string options meet the authentication and connection requirements of different Dynamics CRM instances. To connect to your instance, set the User and Password properties, under the Authentication section, to valid Dynamics CRM user credentials and set the Url to a valid Dynamics CRM server organization root. Additionally, set the CRMVersion property to 'CRM2011+' or 'CRMOnline'. IFD configurations are supported as well; set InternetFacingDeployment to true.
Additionally, you can provide the security token service (STS) or AD FS endpoint in the STSURL property. This value can be retrieved with the GetSTSUrl stored procedure. Office 365 users can connect to the default STS URL by simply setting CRMVersion.
Built-in Connection String Designer
For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the Dynamics CRM JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.
java -jar cdata.jdbc.dynamicscrm.jar
Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.
A typical JDBC URL is below:jdbc:dynamicscrm:User=myuseraccount;Password=mypassword;URL=https://myOrg.crm.dynamics.com/;CRM Version=CRM Online;
Query Dynamics CRM Data
You can now query the tables exposed.
