Replicate UPS Data to Multiple Databases

Replicate UPS data to disparate databases with a single configuration.

Always-on applications rely on automatic failover capabilities and real-time access to data. CData Sync for UPS integrates live UPS data into your mirrored databases, always-on cloud databases, and other databases such as your reporting server: Automatically synchronize with remote UPS data from Windows or any machine running Java.

You can use Sync's command-line interface (CLI) to easily control almost all aspects of the replication. You can use the CLI to replicate UPS data to one or many databases without any need to change your configuration.

Connect to UPS Data

You can save connection strings and other settings like email notifications in XML configuration files.

The following example shows how to replicate to SQLite.

The driver uses five pieces of information in order to authenticate its actions with the UPS service.

  • Server: This controls the URL where the requests should be sent. Common testing options for this are: https://wwwcie.ups.com/ups.app/xml and https://wwwcie.ups.com/webservices
  • AccessKey: This is an identifier that is required to connect to a UPS Server. This value will be provided to you by UPS after registration.
  • UserId: This value is used for logging into UPS. This value is the one you chose to login with when registering for service with UPS.
  • Password: This value is used for logging into UPS. This value is the one you chose to login with when registering for service with UPS.
  • AccountNumber: This is a valid 6-digit or 10-digit UPS account number.
  • PrintLabelLocation: This property is required if one intends to use the GenerateLabels or GenerateReturnLabels stored procedures. This should be set to the folder location where generated labels should be stored.

Configure Replication Queries

Sync enables you to control replication with standard SQL. The REPLICATE statement is a high-level command that caches and maintains a table in your database. You can define any SELECT query supported by the UPS API. The statement below caches and incrementally updates a table of UPS data:

REPLICATE Senders;

You can specify a file containing the replication queries. This enables you to use the same replication queries to replicate to several databases.

Run Sync

After you have configured the connection strings and replication queries, you can run Sync with the following command-line options:
